New Beginnings
A new beginning. The place or time when something commences. A clean slate and a fresh start. A new beginning at the Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre (CAPCC) means the onset of a new story for the men, women, and families we serve. Perhaps it's the unexpected birth of a baby and the start of a parenting journey. Or it is the healing that comes after the loss of a child through miscarriage, adoption, or abortion. A new beginning might mean restoration from past sexual abuse and trauma or the opportunity to live in a safe and nurturing home in our Maternity Home Program. Sometimes a new beginning is discovered simply by having someone to talk to who shows compassion and acceptance. A new beginning means hope for the future.
For the CAPCC, new beginnings have also meant dreaming aloud and creating a new vision for the Centre. This includes re-discovering our values as a team of staff and board members that guide and motivate everything we do. At the CAPCC, we value:
Relationships | Putting those we serve at the heart of all we do
Respect | Honoring and valuing others in both words and actions
Compassion | Genuine care and heartfelt concern for those we serve
Dignity | The right of a person to be valued and respected for their own sake
Excellence | Professional competence and responsible stewardship resources
I so wish I had come to the Centre when I found out I was pregnant! Instead, I let others lead me to believe that abortion would be the best solution. From the second I did it, I knew it was a mistake and I was filled with regret and shame. The ladies there have helped me to grieve in a better way and now I am making better choices. They taught me about what a healthy relationship looks like and are continuing to work with me while I learn to set better boundaries with people. I think they are going to help me get back to school. Maybe someday I will be able to help people the way they have helped me.” ~ CAPCC Client
