"I've had an abortion. Is there someone who understands that I can talk to?"
WE'RE HERE TO HELP
Post Abortion Recovery and Education
We offer a safe, nonjudgmental, confidential environment to express and work through the emotions associated with abortion loss.
Although many women feel some relief after an abortion, many others have negative emotions afterwards. These reactions may be immediate or may occur years later. Women who have had an abortion have reported the following reactions:
Guilt, grief, anger, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, difficulty bonding with partner or children, eating disorders
If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, we offer confidential, compassionate support designed to help women work through these feelings. Our Post Abortion Recovery and Education (PARE) program is highly confidential and available one-on-one or in a group format.
“I chose to have an abortion because I thought that having a baby would ruin my life. After I had the abortion it was like I was holding this big secret. I didn’t want anyone to know because I felt guilty and so ashamed. There’s always this sense of loss and I struggle with sadness.” ~CAPCC PARE client
Call 403-343-1619 or email and ask to speak to someone about the PARE program. If you are calling after hours, you may leave a confidential voicemail and someone will get back to you. You may also call us toll-free at 1-844-343-1611.

Living in Color is a post-abortion recovery healing program designed for use in a small facilitator-led support group. Dr. Theresa Burke coined the phrase "forbidden grief" to describe the sadness and pain felt by many women following their abortion decision. This pain is seldom confined to the loss of a child: many also lose relationships, self-worth, and hope for the future. If this describes you or someone you know, we are here for you. You are not alone.
This course will run for 10 weeks via Zoom beginning Wednesday, April 14th from 6 pm to 8 pm.
All services are free* and confidential.
We provide accurate information on all options, we do not provide abortion referrals.
*Maternity Home residents contribute financially to the program fees as they are able.
