Shona came to the Centre certain that she needed an abortion. It seemed like the only option. A single mom who already struggled to make it with a 4 year old child, she was embarrassed to be pregnant again.
She didn’t want to lose her one lifeline, her family. But she was certain that they would be disappointed in her again, and wouldn’t want to help her with the new baby. The father of this new baby was clingy and insecure and Shona didn’t want anything more to do with him.
What was she supposed to do?
After hearing about all of the options available to her, through counselling and different decision-making tools at CAPCC, an abortion was no longer a personal option for Shona and she has been empowered to talk openly with and find support from the important people in her life. “I’m taking the Steps to Sexual Health program and beginning to recognize the reasons for the choices I made,” Shona notes. “I’m finally learning about healthy relationships.” And that she has choices.
Now Shona looks forward to the birth of her child. “I’m beginning to feel more equipped to lead my kids in ways I wasn’t able to before.”

Highlights of continued growth
Maternity Home Update: The Maternity Home is close to full capacity. There has been an overwhelming number of referrals to the program. These women have the opportunity to parent when otherwise they may not have had the chance to do so. We’re thankful to see God at work and the women welcoming opportunities to be introduced to the church family. Rocky Mountain House Office: We now have expanded office space and can better meet client needs. Olds Office: Doors are opening for a CAPCC presence at Olds College and the surrounding communities in the near future.
