The past year has been one of tremendous growth at the Maternity Home. With two new babies born in 2018 and three more on the way, we opened Phase 2 at the beginning of the year and saw the first resident move in this past March.
Since November both Phases have been completely full, with an ongoing waiting list. It’s been exciting to see all our moms grow in confidence, skills, faith and community and the babies meeting each developmental milestone in a loving and nurturing environment.
Here is a snap shot of all the ways you've help meet the needs of families and individuals in the community.
Meeting needs in new communities
We were also privileged to provide support to the O’Chiese First Nation outside of Rocky Mountain House this Fall. Sexual trauma, abuse and misuse play a large part in the lives of many people who reside there. One of our staff went one day a week to offer Steps to Sexual Health to individuals and to determine what other services were needed in the community.
Ten women attended the program and said they felt the material offered new insights and coping skills. We have since been approached by two other First Nation communities in the area seeking similar help and other services that CAPCC offers. The need is great and we have the tools to help!
